Zainab Memorial B.Ed Centre, in collaboration with the IQAC and Ecotech Club, observed World Environment Day on 5th June, embracing the global theme “Putting an End to Plastic Pollution.” The event was a proactive initiative to raise awareness on environmental sustainability and inspire students to adopt eco-friendly practices for a greener tomorrow.
The programme began with a solemn prayer. A thematic presentation was delivered by Devika V, a student from the Social Science option, who articulated the importance of environmental conservation and the pivotal role individuals can play in curbing plastic waste.
The highlight of the event was a tree planting ceremony, symbolizing a tangible commitment to the environment under the banner “One Plant for One Student.” The planting was officially inaugurated by Dr. Neena M K, Principal of Zainab Memorial B.Ed Centre. In her address, Dr. Neena emphasized the urgency of adopting sustainable practices and fostering environmental stewardship among youth.
The programme concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Pooja Padmanabha Ballal, President of the Ecotech Club, who expressed gratitude.
This thoughtful celebration not only nurtured environmental consciousness within the campus but also marked a significant step towards building a more sustainable and responsible academic community.
