National Reading Day- “Vaathayanam”

As part of the National Reading Day celebrations, the final day of the Reading Week was observed with great enthusiasm and literary spirit at Zainab Memorial B.Ed Centre. The event, titled ‘Vaathayanam’, meaning ‘window’ in Malayalam, symbolized the idea that reading opens a window to the world. The programme was a collaborative initiative of the college’s Library Club Lifebrary, Literature Club Elysium, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The first event was the Reading Competition, conducted at the college auditorium.
Running parallel to the reading competition was the Book Review Competition, held at the college library.
The next major event was a Quiz Competition, held in the college auditorium.
Digital Poster Making Competition was organized in the Physical Science classroom. The theme for this creative contest was ‘Unlocking Potential Through Reading’.
The final event of the day was the Essay Writing Competition, once again held at the college library. The topic, ‘Reading in the Digital Era’, encouraged participants to reflect on how technology has reshaped the reading experience, exploring both opportunities and challenges in today’s digital landscape.
‘Vaathayanam’, the college successfully created a platform for students to explore, express, and celebrate the joy of reading. The programme not only reinforced the value of literature and books but also highlighted how reading continues to be a powerful tool for personal and intellectual growth in every era.
