Zainab Memorial B.Ed Centre, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), solemnly observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2025. The event was held at Cherkala town with the theme “Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment and Recovery for All.”
The day began with the active participation of students, who prepared impactful posters spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug use. At 10:30 AM, the students, staff,
and faculty assembled for the Anti-Drug Rally that commenced from the college premises and proceeded toward Cherkala town. The rally was a vibrant display of placards, slogans, and student enthusiasm, drawing attention from the local public.
The formal programme commenced with a prayer by the college team, setting a solemn tone. Ganesan P V, Assistant Professor of Education, delivered the welcome address, followed by the presidential address by Dr. Smitha E T, Assistant Professor of Natural Science.
The inaugural address was delivered by Mr. Saleem Edneer, Chairman of the Health Standing Committee, Chengala Panchayat. His words were inspiring, emphasizing the collective responsibility society bears in combating drug addiction and supporting recovery.
An oath-taking ceremony was led by Bindhu P V, Principal in charge, where students and faculty pledged to stand against drug abuse and promote a drug-free environment.
This was followed by a felicitation address by Biju Arakkantavida, Assistant Professor of Commerce, who highlighted the role of education in shaping drug-free communities.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mohammed Hassan Sabith, Chairman of the College Union.
