Zainab Memorial B.Ed Centre College Union 2023-24 hosted NOEL 2K23, a festive Christmas and New Year celebration, spanning three joyous days from December 18 to December 20. The College Union organized various programs, including Christmas Card-Making, Crib Making, and Carol singing, aiming to foster creativity and holiday spirit among the students. The participants were divided into four groups: ESPOIR, ELPIS, KIKO, and SPES. On Monday, December 18, 2023, at 2:00 pm, a Christmas card-making competition unfolded. The competition encouraged creativity, and participants crafted unique and visually appealing Christmas cards, showcasing their artistic talents. On December 19th, a Crib-Making Competition engaged students from both the first and second years. The dedicated efforts of the participants resulted in the creation of intricate cribs during the 2.5-hour competition. The event emphasized the use of handmade decorations and recycled materials. The competition not only showcased creativity but also highlighted the unity and teamwork among students.
The main celebration unfolded on the third day, December 20th, with students donning red and white dresses. The program commenced with a prayer by the college team, followed by a welcome speech from Aleena Ma’am. Kurian V Joseph, the college Union Chairman, delivered the presidential address, and Principal Neena M.K inaugurated the event. Father Chris, a special guest, shared a touching story emphasizing the importance of helping others and fostering inclusivity. Father Chris aimed to create an inclusive environment for students and everyone involved. Following this, Father Chris and Dr. Neena participated in cutting the Christmas cake. Kavya added grace to the occasion with her song. Sarith P (Assistant Professor of Commerce), Anusree K Nair (College Union General Secretary), and Hariprasad (Former UUC College Union) extended their felicitations to the program. College Union General Secretary Sharfiya delivered the vote of thanks. Aftera small break, the program resumed with the Carol Singing Competition, featuring four main groups. Each group, showcased their singing talents impressively. Judges for the competition were Dr. Neena M.K and Father Chris. Following the Carol Competition, a Christmas friend gift exchange game added a joyful touch to the event.
The Principal initiated the game by passing her gift around, creating Christmas friendships when the music stopped. Everyone participated in exchanging gifts, resulting in a delightful experience for students, faculties, and non-teaching staff. After the gift exchange, it was time for a lunch break. The program resumed at 2 pm for the announcement of competition winners. ESPOIR secured the first prize in the Card Making Competition, while ELPIS secured the second prize. In the Crib Making Competition, SPES was awarded the first prize, and KIKO received the second prize. KIKO clinched the first prize in the Carol Singing Competition, with ELPIS securing the second prize. The celebration concluded by 2:30, leaving all participants with cherished memories of NOEL 2K23.
