As part of the Physical Education course, the student-teachers from Zainab Memorial B.Ed. Centre went to Rifles Academy in Ambalathara on March 5, 2025. The class, which ran from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, gave the pupils a rare chance to learn about and practice shooting sports. The visit provided a practical learning experience that went beyond conventional classroom instruction and was both educational and entertaining.
The District Rifle Association Range trainer, Mr. K. H. Sreekumar, gave an enlightening discussion at the start of the session, introducing the students to the various components of a rifle and outlining its purposes and usage. During his explanation of the numerous sorts of pellets and bullets used in shooting sports, he allowed the pupils to handle and inspect the various types of ammunition. This experiential learning opportunity captivated the pupils and helped them better comprehend the gear used in shooting. Furthermore, Mr. Sreekumar informed the children about the club’s membership possibilities, which piqued their curiosity even more. The principal of the Zainab Memorial B.Ed. Centre, Dr. Neena M. K., Nithyan, and Sujamol, the physical education teacher, spoke to the students, stressing the value of physical education in fostering self-discipline, concentration, and confidence. Students remained interested and involved throughout the interactive session, and they enthusiastically asked questions on the skills and preparation needed for shooting sports. One of the highlights of the session was the opportunity for all the students to try shooting with a gun. Those who successfully hit the target were given a second chance to shoot, with around 10 students managing to aim accurately. These students were awarded pens as a token of achievement. The enthusiasm and excitement in the air were palpable as the students eagerly awaited their second chance to shoot.
To sum up, the students had a great time at Rifles Academy and gained useful knowledge about shooting sports and the gear that is utilized. The training was instructive and unforgettable because of the practical experience with firearms, pellets, and bullets as well as the knowledgeable direction. With fresh insights and a greater understanding of physical education, the pupils departed the rifle academy. With a group photo at the end of the day, the participants’ joy and togetherness were captured.
